Sangakkara, who played a superb innings of 185 runs in 2nd innings of first test match, again played a crucial innings in 2nd test. Muhammad Asif struck ver early when he dismissed Upal Tharanga with his out swinger to the left handed, got Jayasuriya with an in swinger hitting his off stump. Skipper Jayawardene could not survive as well. Sangakkara was the one who avoided a low total at that stage. He managed to play a quick 79 runs innings before he got out on a delivery by Danish Kaneria.
Muhammad Asif delivered beautifully and got three early wickets making the position of Pakistan stronger in the game. He was marvellous today and swung the ball in both direction with command. His other partners Rao Iftekhar who played first test and Umer Gul were unable to deliver in that manner. He was only to get the seem movement and swung the ball in air on many occasions as well. He was able to do his maiden five wicket haul today.
Sangakkara and samaraweera played superb for their team and made a reasonable total in the end. Muhammad Asif took two wickets with the new ball after 80 overs. Srilanka has two wickets left and they would try to reach 300 runs to get psychological advantage.
